Jonathan Michael Majors (born September 7, 1989)[1][2] is an American actor. He first rose to prominence after starring in the independent feature film The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019), and in 2020 garnered wider notice for starring in the HBO television series Lovecraft Country, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. He has also portrayed Nat Love in the western The Harder They Fall (2021) and Jesse L. Brown in the war film Devotion (2022). Since 2021, he began starring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as different versions of the character Kang the Conqueror.
Early life
Jonathan Majors was born on September 7, 1989, in Dallas, Texas, to parents who were both pastors. He grew up in Texas and California, where he attended Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, before moving to California for his senior year.
Majors went on to attend the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting. During his time at UNCSA, Majors performed in numerous productions and was awarded the prestigious Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Acting upon his graduation.
After completing his degree, Majors moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting, where he performed in various theater productions before making his screen debut in the film "Hostiles" in 2017.
Career
Jonathan Majors began his acting career in theater, where he appeared in numerous productions, including "Othello" and "Antigone." He also performed in several Off-Broadway productions in New York City.
Majors made his screen debut in the 2017 film "Hostiles," where he played the role of Corporal Henry Woodson. He gained recognition for his role as Delmond Lambreaux in the HBO series "Treme" in 2018.
In 2019, Majors starred in the critically acclaimed film "The Last Black Man in San Francisco," where he played the role of Montgomery Allen. He received critical acclaim for his performance and was nominated for several awards, including an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male.
Majors continued to gain attention with his role in Spike Lee's 2020 film "Da 5 Bloods," where he played the role of David. He also starred in the HBO series "Lovecraft Country," which premiered in the same year.
Majors has also been cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," set to be released in 2023.
Throughout his career, Majors has received critical acclaim for his performances and has been nominated for several awards, including a Critics' Choice Television Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
