Sachin Tendulkar

 

Sachin Tendulkar is a former Indian cricketer widely considered one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. He was born on April 24, 1973, in Mumbai, India.
Tendulkar began playing cricket at a young age and made his debut for the Indian national team in 1989 at the age of 16. He quickly established himself as one of the most talented and gifted batsmen in the world and went on to enjoy a long and illustrious career spanning 24 years.
During his career, Tendulkar set numerous records, including the most runs scored in both Test and One Day International cricket. He was also the first player to score a double century in One Day Internationals. Tendulkar was known for his elegant and technically flawless batting style and his ability to play a wide range of shots with great ease.
Tendulkar retired from international cricket in 2013, having played 200 Test matches and 463 One Day Internationals. He was awarded India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 2014 for his contributions to Indian cricket.
Tendulkar continues to be a popular and revered figure in India and is widely regarded as a national icon. He has also been involved in various philanthropic and social initiatives, including supporting child health and education

  1. Tendulkar was the youngest Indian cricketer to make his debut in Test cricket, and he remains the second-youngest player ever to play a Test match.

He scored his first Test century at the age of 17 against England in 1990, making him the third-youngest player to score a Test century.                                                                                                                                                                                         
  3. In 1998, Tendulkar became the first player to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year in One Day Internationals.

  5. Tendulkar is the only player to have scored 100 international centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs).                              
  6. In addition to his cricketing achievements, Tendulkar has also been honoured with several awards, including the Padma Shri (1999), Padma Vibhushan (2008), and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (1997).                                                  
  7. Tendulkar is also an accomplished sportsman in other sports such as tennis and football. He is a passionate tennis player and was even offered a scholarship by John McEnroe to train at his academy in the United States. He also owns a football team in the Indian Super League, Kerala Blasters FC.                                                                          
  8. Tendulkar's autobiography, "Playing It My Way," was released in 2014 and became the fastest-selling adult hardback book in Indian publishing history.                                                                                                                                             
  9. In recognition of his contribution to cricket, Tendulkar was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2019.    
  10. Tendulkar is a philanthropist and has been involved in various social and charitable initiatives. He has supported causes such as child health and education, disaster relief, and supporting underprivileged athletes.       
  11. Tendulkar has played against a total of 78 different Test-playing nations, including teams such as Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, and Kenya.                                                                                                                                              
  12. He has scored 51 Test centuries, which is a record in itself, and he also holds the record for the most centuries scored by any batsman in both Test and One Day International cricket combined (100).                                        
  13. Tendulkar was the first sportsperson to be conferred with the honorary rank of Group Captain by the Indian Air Force.                                                                                                                                                                         
  14. He has been named as the Cricketer of the Year by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on two occasions (in 1997 and 2010).                                                                                                                                                          
  15. Tendulkar's highest score in Test cricket is 248 not out, which he scored against Bangladesh in 2004.                         
  16. He has scored 2,326 runs in 64 T20Is, with a highest score of 98 not out against England in 2007.                          
  17. Tendulkar was the first player to score 50 centuries in international cricket, achieving the feat in 2009.                    
  18. He is the only player to have scored more than 1,000 runs in a calendar year in Tests on six occasions.                  
  19. Tendulkar's partnership with Vinod Kambli, his childhood friend, in a school cricket match is still the highest ever recorded in any form of cricket - they put on 664 runs for the third wicket.                                                     
  20. In 2020, Tendulkar was inducted into the Laureus Sports Academy as a member, joining other sporting legends such as Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, and Usain Bolt.
